Do you need one wedding photographer or two?

The right amount of photography coverage depends on your wedding size, timeline and how much is happening at once.

One photographer can be a great fit for a smaller wedding or a day with a straightforward timeline. Two photographers may be helpful when you're getting ready in separate locations, have a large guest list or want more moments covered from different perspectives.

If you're booking photography and videography together, it's also worth considering how the team can work together without disrupting your day.

Not sure what you need? We've put together a guide to help you decide.

How Many Wedding Photographers Do You Need?

Sydney Wedding Photography Packages & Coverage Options

When choosing wedding photography packages in Sydney, having transparent coverage and deliverables is essential.

Every wedding has its own timeline. Some couples need coverage from the final preparations through to the reception, while others are planning a smaller celebration with fewer locations.

We'll help you work out how much coverage makes sense for your plans, including time for the ceremony, family photographs, couple portraits and reception moments.

Our wedding photography packages include individually edited high-resolution images, delivered through an online gallery. We'll explain the coverage, deliverables and timing clearly before you book.

Sydney Wedding Photography FAQs

10 Questions You should ask before hiring a wedding photographer in Sydney

How many photos will be edited? Are there extra editing costs?

Our Signature Collection includes unlimited high-resolution images, with couples typically receiving around 80 photos per hour of coverage. Every image delivered in your gallery is individually edited for colour, exposure, and consistency. There are no additional editing fees - it's all included.

How long does delivery take, and do you provide sneak peeks?

We promise delivery of your full gallery and videos within 12 weeks, although we often deliver much sooner depending on the wedding season.

We know how exciting it is to relive your wedding day, so we also provide sneak peeks within 2-3 days.

What happens if you're unwell or there's an emergency?

Life can be unpredictable, and while it's incredibly rare, we always have an ironclad backup plan.

We maintain a trusted network of experienced lead photographers and videographers who can step in if an emergency prevents us from attending. No matter what happens, you will never be left without professional coverage on your wedding day.

What is your file backup process?

We're probably a little obsessive when it comes to data security. Your memories are far too important to trust to a single device, which is why we secure your images at every single stage:

  • In the Camera: My primary camera is a Canon R6 Mark III, which records every single shot simultaneously to two separate memory cards in real time.
  • On the Day: I carry three professional camera bodies to every wedding - two in active use and one pure backup.
  • At the Studio: Our backup process begins right at your reception. Once home, your files are immediately copied to three hard drives and stored in separate locations, including off-site backup storage. Your memories are far too important to trust to a single device.

Do you have a wet weather plan?

Absolutely. If rain is forecast, I always recommend having a few clear or matching umbrellas ready for the bridal party. Light rain rarely stops us from creating beautiful photographs.

Sometimes "bad" weather creates opportunities for your most unique photos. For example, at Shelley and Joel's wedding, heavy rain meant we couldn't leave the venue grounds, yet some of the couple's absolute favourite images ended up being captured right from the verandah overlooking the park. Dunbar House has gorgeous heritage features including its verandas and hallways, all of which make wonderful photo backdrops. The weather may change our location, but it won't stop us from creating beautiful images.

Is there a travel fee or hidden fee?

There is no travel fee for weddings within Greater Sydney. For weddings outside of Sydney, a travel fee may apply depending on the location. Any travel costs will be included in your quote completely upfront, so there are absolutely no surprises after your wedding day.

What is your typical photography timeline on the day?

The short answer? Hairspray. Buttonholes. Happy tears. Confetti. Family photos. Couple portraits. Champagne. Dance floor chaos.

The longer answer is that every wedding is unique.

Some couples choose a First Look before the ceremony. Others include cultural traditions such as a Chinese/ Vietnamese tea ceremony, door games, or family customs that have been passed down through generations.

One of the most memorable examples was Jesse's wedding, where the family incorporated a traditional Hakka practice before the ceremony. It was something I had never photographed before, and being able to learn about and document these meaningful traditions is one of the things I love most about weddings.

Because no two weddings are the same, I don't believe in forcing couples into a standard timeline template. During our first video call, we'll walk through your plans together, discuss any cultural traditions, family expectations, travel between locations, and key moments that are important to you. I'll then help map out a timeline that flows naturally and gives you the best possible photography experience.

As a starting point, a standard 9-hour timeline often looks like this:

  • 2.5 Hours: Getting ready & detail shots (hairspray, buttonholes, and anticipation)
  • 1 Hour: Ceremony & family photos
  • 1.5 Hours: Bridal party & couple portraits (champagne, laughs, and zero awkward posing)
  • 4 Hours: Reception entry, speeches, cake cutting, and epic dance floor chaos

Whether your wedding is a simple ceremony and reception or a full-day celebration with multiple traditions and locations, we'll help everything run smoothly and ensure all the important moments are captured through our detailed runsheet planning process, which begins months before your wedding day.

What is your actual approach on the day? Are we going to spend hours posing?

The short answer? No. We hate awkward, stiff posing just as much as you do.

Our style is "pictomentary" — a natural blend of candid documentary storytelling and authentic emotion. We don’t take over your day or order your guests around like a movie director. Instead, we blend into the background to capture the genuine laughs, the happy tears, and the dance floor chaos exactly as they happen.

When it comes to your location shoot and portraits, here is how we handle it:

  • Natural Guidance: I will give you clear direction during the shoot to get those flawless, natural-looking portraits without the stiffness.
  • Tailored to You: I always work around what you are after. If you want a few more traditional or posed shots incorporated, I can absolutely do that. We will chat through your preferences before the wedding day so I can tailor everything to your liking.
  • The Pinterest Policy: I love seeing your Pinterest boards or Instagram examples ahead of time! It is a fantastic way for me to understand the vibe and style of photos you love. However, I don't recreate boards shot-by-shot on the day. Unless you are a professional model, trying to mimic a static internet photo usually breaks the natural flow, creates awkward-looking photos, and turns the portrait session into a stressful chore.

I won't be pulling out an iPad on your wedding day to copy poses. You should enjoy the process of your wedding day just as much as the final photos. My goal is to keep the energy relaxed and fun so the real magic happens naturally!

Do you provide unedited RAW files?

RAW files straight out of the camera are essentially digital negatives—they are flat, desaturated, and only halfway through the creative process.

The true magic happens in the editing room, where each photograph is individually calibrated for colour balance, exposure, skin tones, and emotion to achieve our signature timeless aesthetic.

Just as a chef wouldn't serve raw ingredients before cooking a signature dish, we don't deliver unfinished RAW files. You hired us for our vision from start to finish, and we promise you’ll receive a complete, beautifully curated collection of fully edited, high-resolution images ready to print, share, and cherish forever.

How do you help make sure our wedding day runs smoothly and on time?Title

We don't just show up on the day with cameras - we help you plan for a completely stress-free experience months in advance.

About four months out from your wedding, we kick off our tailored runsheet process. I’ll send you our template to map out key details, locations, and priorities.

From there, we review the schedule together, advising on travel buffers, optimal sunset lighting, and realistic timeframes for family portraits so you never feel rushed.

We aim to lock in your finalised runsheet at least one week before the big day. When your wedding arrives, everything is mapped out seamlessly so you can ignore the clock, soak in every moment with your guests, and simply enjoy the celebration.
